
Just… Burgers !
Hello Burger Fans,
As most of you know, the first The Huggy’s Bar restaurant opened in September 2012 on Boulevard d’Avroy. Originally specialising in all sorts of typically American dishes (and even typically Liège ones!), the founders very quickly focused on quality Burgers, the big Best Sellers on the original menu. Since then, Burger Fans have multiplied and our production has only continued to grow…
And you know what?! We’ve done it: in 4½ years and 5 establishments open, we’ve passed the milestone of 500,000 Burgers produced! Incredible, isn’t it? (That definitely deserves a nice montage… 😉 )

Just like the number of Burgers, the number of THB employees has also only increased… But even so, we still have quite a few of our “old hands”. Some arrived as students and have come a long way in 5 years. We went to meet them, and their memories are numerous, and some rather funny… After our Best Burgers, here are our Best Memories 😀

“A customer once congratulated me on the tartar sauce, which reminded him of his childhood… ‘Your tartar sauce is excellent; you can really taste the capers,’ even though at the time there weren’t any in it…” – Marvin, head chef of THB4, who started at THB1 as a second.
“I used to be a Huggy’s regular, but when I applied to work in the kitchen, they didn’t want me because I lacked experience (laughs)… It was only when they were really ‘in the weeds’ that they agreed to give me a chance… Since then, I’ve become head chef!” – Ben, head chef of THB1, was one of our first Fans.
“One day a customer asked us what iceberg sauce was…” – Sébastien, manager of THB1, started as a waiter.
“When there was a table of pretty girls, we drew little hearts on their plates with the coleslaw dressing… It always made them melt!” – Martin, Operations Manager for the brand, started as a student dishwasher at THB1.
“Before I officially started at Huggy’s, I gave Marvin an idea for the Biche Burger sauce, which he was able to submit in his name… And it was adopted! 😀” – Ben, head chef of THB1, was one of our first Fans.
“The best anecdote I remember is a customer who once asked what horse egg tasted like…!” Colonel Burger…” – Jonathan, Supervision Manager for the brand, formerly manager of THB1 and 2.
“A young woman called me to cancel her reservation; she had a cold and was bedridden. I replied, jokingly, ‘That’s what happens when you sleep completely naked!’ A week later, a customer arrives and introduces herself: ‘I’m the girl who sleeps naked’… That shut me up!” – Papy, front-of-house manager of THB1 since day one.
“An older regular used to come very often with his wife. One day he was noticed by a producer from RTBF and I was called to get his contact details… They wanted to make a programme about him… Unfortunately he turned down the offer!” – Jonathan, Supervision Manager for the brand, formerly manager of THB1 and 2.
“At the beginning of THB1, we were surprised by the high number of customers: I had to prepare the beef patties at full speed and bring them to the kitchen one by one… while the customers had already placed their orders!” – Marvin, head chef of THB4, started at THB1 as a second.
“I’ve always been nicknamed Papy… One day a customer said to me ‘It’s great that you can work as a family’… He thought the young guys were my grandchildren!” – Papy, front-of-house manager of THB1 since day one.
As you’ll agree: you never get bored at The Huggy’s Bar! 500,000 Burgers, that’s just CRA-ZY! Can you imagine? It would be like filling our restaurants with loads and loads of Burgers, everywhere! Ahhh… It makes us dream! 🙂
