Belgian Owl at Huggy’s
Hello Burger Fans, here is a little recap – and an exciting update – about our wonderful project: producing our own Belgian Owl whisky barrel!
This exceptional collaboration began with the creation of a Burger Belgian Owl, a gourmet hamburger like the ones we love very much at Huggy’s: very elaborate, 100% homemade and made with local products. We clicked really well with the Belgian Owl team, and Étienne Bouillon, its founder, besides making us laugh a lot, shared his passion for whisky with us, still novices in the field. We found we shared many common values, such as the desire to work with exceptional, local, high‑quality products. Inevitably, between that feeling and the gourmet recipe we had just created, a collaboration on a larger scale was obvious!
And so it began: we were going to create our own barrel of whisky 🥃
Over these years, after a few visits to our barley and the harvest that followed, our little distillate began to age in its oak barrel, patiently awaiting “its hour of glory”.
On 22 September we were finally there: our distillate officially became whisky! We went to meet it at 9 a.m. sharp, bursting with impatience… With the excise officers present, we were able to taste this alcoholic beverage for the very first time, which was no less than 74.2 degrees ! Yep, you read that right: still pure and just out of its barrel, the Belgian Owl X THB whisky promises to have quite a character! Enough to properly revive a team just out of bed 😜
With our little vial under our arm, off we went, all emotional, with our next appointment set for September 2022 to see it bottled and be able to let all our Burger Fans who are premium whisky enthusiasts taste it!
➡ To celebrate this big step, we teamed up with the distillery to offer you guided tours of the Belgian Owl distillery in Fexhe‑le‑Haut‑Clocher. Our first customers to order a glass of Belgian Owl whisky in our restaurants will receive a gift voucher valid until the end of February 🥳 (while stocks last)
