Birth of The Huggy’s Bar burger recipe book

Hello Burger Fans,

9 months in the making… This week we look back at a collaboration that marked a turning point in the history of the Huggy’s Bar. For years we had been toying with the idea of a burger recipe book, wondering where to begin, who to work with and whether it was really legitimate at our stage. Publishing a book was never part of our original plan 😊

THE BEGINNING…

Although we already had a fairly well‑defined structure in mind, nothing concrete had been put in place. Without a publisher and without any real experience in the matter, the step seemed huge. Then one day an e‑mail from the Éditions de la Province de Liège changed everything and made our dream possible – and even better, within reach. From the first contact we knew we were on the same wavelength and that this collaboration would be a real pleasure (after five years of thinking about our dream THBOOK, organisation and methodology had become our middle names!)

STEP BY STEP, THE BIRD BUILT ITS NEST…

History of the Burger, the Huggy’s Bar success story and the revelation of our most popular recipes… that was quite the plan! 😉 Over many hours we collected internal documentation – blog articles, juicy anecdotes, interesting figures – while Primaëlle, Denis and Pierre from Éditions de la Province de Liège wrote the sections we hadn’t covered yet. Every month we met to discuss progress against the schedule, review the contents together and rework them if necessary. Everyone advanced step by step on their part of the project.

Chapter after chapter the book came to life: Beer Pairing explained by our brewers, portraits of our local suppliers, an illustrated glossary, not to mention dozens of recipes for our Real Homemade Burgers, sauces, sides and desserts. Our photographer Virginie captured the dishes beautifully, our graphic designer gave the pages that clean Huggy’s style and our translator made sure everyone could enjoy the content.

THE RESULT…

After nine months, the result was finally there: 144 pages of pure Huggy’s spirit, combining ten years of experience, 80 recipes and over 50 photos – a journey through our universe from the first restaurant to today. The THBOOK is a book to read, a book to cook from and a book to offer. You can find it in our restaurants and on the websites of Librairie PAX and Kodo LTP. It’s the perfect gift for burger lovers or anyone who wants to reproduce our creations at home.
